The Ask

This financial services firm was looking at ways XR experiences could be adopted across the company, especially when it came to meetings and other historically in-person events.

The advisors’ symposium was identified as a testing ground to understand if immersive technologies could indeed give participants the value of being at a conference, without needing to be in the same physical location.

The Solution

Working closely with the client, we were able to deliver a high impact product using bleeding edge visualization technology, and collaboratively define the immersive future of keynotes.

We translated the interactions and activities that make in-person conferences so valuable, into a set of virtual spaces, events, and interactions. For example, the location of the symposium included a stage for keynotes, as well as several breakout areas that supported interactions from planned meetings to informal mingling.

The keynote itself was highly interactive and presented key economic trends by taking the audience on a journey around the world, illustrating the first hand impacts of the data presented.

Virtual Conference Center

The virtual conference center takes inspiration from the client’s physical campus, and provides specific spatial cues to foster different types of audience interactions.

Learning on Location

The keynote focused on global economic trends, and as part of the storytelling, we brought the audience to different locations to show the real world impact of the numbers. Throughout this journey, the stage remains consistent to keep viewers grounded.

Participant Experience

Part of the reason virtual conferences on video platforms have fallen short of physical events is the missing element of formal and informal interactions with fellow participants.

As a solution to this, we designed a spatial interface and opportunities in the keynote itself that would encourage interactions between individuals, and with the speaker.

Participant Choice

Join and participate in available live sessions, or re-watch previous events

Audience Engagement

Surveys help speakers gauge audience interest and choose topics to focus on

Aggregated Reactions

“Read the room” and share the excitement through crowd emojis and upvotes

Contextual Dashboard

Access dynamic tools based on available actions during each section of the keynote

Capturing a Live Performance

In order for the virtual keynote speaker to have the most life-like performance, we worked with an actor to motion capture her body, hands, and facial expressions. The digital character was then integrated into the keynote.

From Concept to Impact

We built custom automations and new processes to transform storyboard sketches into an interactive story in just 7 weeks. Working closely with the client at every step of the process, we were able to innovate beyond realities and set a new standard for immersive keynotes.

“I think this is the best thing we’ve ever done, and definitely has the ‘wow factor’ to it. My only complaint is that I didn’t want it to end.”
