Bridging workflows

3D workflows are frustratingly rigid. A scene prepared for still renderings will need to be reworked for real-time animations, and further again for VR. Each medium has its own technical considerations, meaning that the process is both time consuming, and expert driven.

Palatial solves the technical problem of translating content between mediums so creators can focus on delivering better experiences. It’s like a Swiss army knife, versatile, compact, and always at arms reach.

Our namesake

Our name is a reference to the simulator in Alastair Reynolds’ sci-fi novel, House of Suns. A metaverse of sorts, users are able to live their lives in a vibrant virtual world.

Similarly, we aspire to give creators the ability to build, share, and realize engaging experiences for worlds beyond a screen.

The Problem

As XR developers, we’ve built everything from virtual prototyping studios to digital experiences, and every time users just get it. It’s as if you get the convenience of digital, as well as the tactility of physical - no compromise is necessary.

However, building immersive 3D experiences is expensive and expert driven, meaning that only those with the budget for an XR developer can participate. And quality trade-offs due to hardware limitations lowers the immersive impact.

What We’re Doing

With Palatial, we’re democratizing processes used by XR developers to create immersive content so anyone can use the platform to build. We’re cloud based, so regardless of what device you’re using, you get the best visual quality. And you can share it with your team so you can work together.

Simultaneously, we’re continuing to partner with brands to build powerful immersive stories that push technical barriers. The expertise and learnings we collect are brought back into the platform, creating a loop to deliver richer experiences, faster and more collaboratively.

Our Namesake

Our name is a reference to Palatial, the virtual universe simulator/holodeck in Alastair Reynolds’ 2008 sci-fi novel, House of Suns. Similar to the concept of the Metaverse in Ready Player One, users are able to assume the identifies of a virtual character and live out their lives in a vibrant virtual fantasy world.

Our aspiration is to give creators the ability to do the same - to build, share, and realize experiences for worlds beyond a screen.
